A Youth Mountaineering Education Program

Future Programs

Phase 1

The project Pakistan Youth Outreach will be initiated with the objective to educate youth at the grass root level about mountain adventure, trekking adventure, and wilderness. This part will also cover environmental education, and the effects of global warming.  The focus would be on schools, colleges, and universities.

The main components at this level consist of:

1. Lectures and presentations  (Photo, Audio, and video)

2. Mountaineering films/documentaries

3. Presentation on environment education and climate change.

4. Introduction to Pakistani and international mountaineers

Phase II

After the first phase with its focus on the theoretical, as well as awareness and education about mountain adventure and environment programs, the focus of the second phase would be on the more practical and field training.

1. Camping and hiking

2. Cleaning campaign to discourage climate change

3. Trekking

4. Ice climbing

5. Rock Climbing

Phase III

Phase 3 will focus on promoting women in adventure and to organize women’s expeditions. After gaining a basic understanding of mountaineering, expeditions to smaller mountains will be organized for the women. Initially, these expeditions would be to mountains 6000+m and gradually to higher mountains as more experience is gained.  The women will be given technical assistance and training from experts and the expeditions will be led by the growing number of young women mountaineers.

Phase IV

Phase four of the program will be to make joint study tours with Pakistani and foreign students, from school to university level.  These study tours would include research work on flora and fauna, glaciers, mountains, and the study of high mountain settlements, life styles, and historical sites, as well as ancient civilizations.
